About the event
Overview
The aging population and its strain on the labor market and a new national focus on Japan’s startup ecosystem have created a perfect storm of change within the country. Traditional business hierarchies and structures are being questioned, leading to a new era of business in the country. Within that dynamic, women are more inclined than ever to get involved with and impact business. With that, though, how can we go beyond the simple involvement of more women in the workforce to empower the next generation of female business leaders in Japan.

Purpose
Our event, Empowerment: The Next Generation of Female Business Leaders in Japan, aims to highlight the different approaches needed to inspire the next generation of female business leaders. Discussion at the event will uncover some of the biggest challenges preventing women from taking the step into entrepreneurship and more active business roles while laying out strategies for overcoming these challenges. At the same time, the event will emphasize the impact women are already making in the business world, aiming to inspire future female leaders to get involved.
The event will hear from female speakers from different areas and perspectives of business, from larger firms to startups, reentering the workforce, and more. Painting a picture of the more significant situation and bringing attention to the different approaches needed for women to succeed regardless of the problem or environment.
Outcome
Government representatives are welcome to participate in these discussions actively. Their presence will allow us to directly relay talking and action points to hopefully spearhead initiatives, movements, and imagery that will all push the next generation of female business leaders forward.
Moreover, we strive to empower attendees of all genders and backgrounds by equipping them with knowledge and resources to better support and proliferate more diverse and equitable working environments in Japan. Hoping to create environments that are more receptive to more vital female business roles.
Ultimately, Empowerment: The Next Generation of Female Business Leaders in Japan event aims to bring together current female business leaders from a variety of backgrounds and environments to build open dialogue and discussion on the current challenges and opportunities for women to take a more active role in business here in Japan, while hopefully inspiring the next generation of female leaders to get involved and make their impact on business in Japan.
